Ultimate List: Things I’m Loving Lately

September 2024

  1. My Personal Notion Hub

I use Notion for everything (and I’ll tell anyone who will listen). My Notion templates are ever-evolving, but most recently, I have a central Notion hub that links out to every other Notion universe.

The home page of my Notion Hub is dedicated to my vision board and a menu that links out to different sections (like “Work”). Each section is designed for what it contains (whether it’s project management, or a health dashboard to keep track of notes from doctor’s appointments), and each section is both beautiful and easy to find within the overall structure.

You can find my Notion templates here.

  2. Instacart-ing Costco Orders

I don’t know why I didn’t think of this sooner… but this month I start using Instacart for Costco orders (no Costco membership required). It saves an hour of driving and tons of time shopping, and I keep track of my list within the app. I stock up on staples for the month (coffee, eggs, etc.) and then I’m good on groceries for weeks. Amazing.

  3. ThredUp

I tried the app out on a whim after a recommendation from a friend, and I was skeptical at first — it’s kind of just like thrifting in-person, requiring a decent amount of patience to sift through hundreds of items of clothing. But after playing with different search terms trying to pinpoint the best strategies, it turned into a game and now I’m hooked.

What I love about ThredUp is that you get to send in clothes you not longer want in exchange for shopping credits, so already-discounted clothes are even further discounted. Returns are fairly easy, and so is the process for sending in your own clothes (you just request a bag through the app, and it arrives in your mailbox with a prepaid shipping label). I’ve already found some of my favorite clothing items.

  4. FitBod

I’ve been using this app for about a year on and off, but I’ve been on a streak lately and I’m loving this app even more than usually. While I’m capable of building my own workouts, FitBod eliminates the need to because the interface is so seamless.

Beyond building workouts based on my goals, equipment, length of time, and preferred exercise split, the app also makes it so easy to track improvements in certain exercises over time. You can change your goals whenever, and you can also modify the provided workouts however you want to, whether it’s subbing out an exercise for a different one that targets the same muscle, changing the weight you lift for a certain exercise, or adding / deleting exercises or sets.

Overall… very fun. I keep a widget on my phone home screen that tracks my number of workouts for the week against the goal I set, which is also motivating.

  5. Saunas + Cold Plunging

I’ll admit — I used to be a hater of the cold plunge. I have a lot of friends who are die-hards, and I just can’t follow the crowd. But a few months ago, I got a membership to a sauna + cold plunge place in Chattanooga and I’ve been loving it. I haven’t worked my cold plunge time beyond two minutes, but the combination is such a nice break after sitting at a desk + computer all day.
